Job Overview

The Town of Farragut is seeking a highly skilled Enforcement Officer - Code Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the community's high standards are met through effective code enforcement and technical work.


About the Role

This Enforcement Officer - Code Compliance Specialist will be responsible for enforcing adopted building codes, inspecting properties, preparing reports, maintaining records, and performing related work as apparent or assigned. The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Building Official and be an integral part of our team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect residential and commercial construction to ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Conduct plan reviews and field inspections for code compliance of commercial and residential structures.
  • Meet with contractors, property owners, and design professionals to discuss code-related requirements and necessary inspections.
  • Ensure required permits have been obtained for construction in progress and issue stop-work orders if found in violation.
  • Investigate complaints regarding building code violations and other code infractions.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should possess a High school diploma or GED, coursework in construction-related fields, and five years of experience in building construction, engineering, or code enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

This role requires occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force, regular speaking and hearing, frequent standing and walking, and occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.


Estimated Salary Range

$26.13 - $35.12 per hour, based on location and industry standards.
