Job Summary

Brown Surgical Associates is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will be responsible for scheduling surgical cases and procedures, coordinating with physicians and staff, and ensuring seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule surgical cases and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient use of operating room time
  • Coordinate with physicians, secretaries, and clinical staff to facilitate patient-centered care
  • Manage and update surgical schedules daily, coordinating with surgeons and other stakeholders
  • Obtain pre-surgical referrals and pre-authorization as required, reviewing financial and clinical paperwork for completeness
  • Coordinate pre-admission testing, pre-op office visits, and post-op care as needed
  • Update provider calendars to reflect scheduled surgeries and manage surgery databases
  • Communicate with patients regarding arrival times, pre-and post-op instructions, and scheduled appointments
  • Provide coverage for practice secretaries as needed and perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice Manager
Requirements
  • High School diploma required; graduate of a secretarial school or college preferred
  • Two years' experience in a medical-surgical practice setting, with surgical scheduling experience preferred
  • Medical terminology required, with knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and third-party billing
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records, and computerized appointment scheduling systems
