Job Summary

The Program Manager, Student & Family Support plays a vital role in fostering a culture of inclusion and well-being at Beacon Academy Boston. This position requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of adolescent development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the Academy's Core Values: Demonstrate exceptional work ethic, personal integrity, confidentiality, professional maturity, and ambassadorship in all interactions.
  • Develop Individualized Support Plans: Collaborate with faculty to create tailored support plans for students struggling academically and socio-emotionally.
  • Mental Health Support and Assessment: Meet with the consulting psychologist to assess student mental health and develop strategies for support.
  • Parent and Caregiver Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and caregivers regarding student social/emotional issues.
  • Advisory Program Development: Grow the existing Advisory program to provide holistic support for Beacon students and families.
  • Crisis Management and Support: Manage crisis situations efficiently and effectively, facilitating regular faculty discussions on student progress.
  • Alumni Support and Engagement: Collaborate with the Program Manager, Alumni Support to create a structured system of socio-emotional support for Beacon alumni.
  • Student Guidance and Support: Advise a small group of students, offering guidance for their academic, emotional, and personal growth.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Show a practice that respects the dignity and self-determination of others and advocates for those with limited influence and opportunity.
  • Master's Degree in a Relevant Field: Possess a Master's degree in social work, counseling, education, or a similar field.
  • Experience Working with Youth: Minimum 3 years of experience working with youth in an educational setting, preferred.
  • Mental Health Assessment and Support: Experience conducting mental health assessments of youth.
  • Effective Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, students, and community members.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace; comfort with Blackbaud, preferred.
  • Personal Qualities: A positive outlook, excellent work ethic, and a sense of humor.
  • Academy's Mission: Demonstrated ability to embrace and share the Academy's mission.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Travel and Mobility: Ability to travel occasionally through the greater Boston area and Northeast, up to 10% of the time.
  • Evening and Weekend Work: Evening and weekend work required, as needed.
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license.
  • Computer Use: Ability to work using a computer for long periods of time.
  • Lifting and Mobility: Ability to lift 3-5 lbs of materials.
Reports to and Benefits

Reports to: Director, Alumni Support Services and CEO & Head of School

FTE: 1.0

Schedule: Typically Monday through 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional nights or weekend work

Position Type: Full-time, exempt, year-round position (summers included)

Benefits Eligible: Yes

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
