About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Elevator Inspector to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. As an Elevator Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of elevators and escalators on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and certify elevator equipment, platform lifts, and escalators for safe operating conditions and compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
  • Document all findings and advise management or service coordinator on recommended actions and solutions.
  • File records and reports with the appropriate government agency and provide follow-up verification for repair and maintenance work.
  • Maintain a database for elevator equipment, platform lifts, and escalators and assist in developing and implementing a preventative maintenance program.
  • Participate in developing specifications for new construction and remodeling projects and provide assistance in budget projections.
  • Perform on-site maintenance audits, interpret and evaluate data from remote monitoring systems, and review and evaluate elevator equipment performance history.
  • Attend meetings with vendors to evaluate elevator equipment and maintain credentials as an American Society of Mechanical Engineers Qualified Elevator Inspector (ASME QEI-1 certification) and Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) state Elevator Inspector License.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Required State of Texas license as an Elevator Inspector and certification as QEI-1 Elevator Inspector from an accredited organization.
  • Seven years of journey level experience in the installation and maintenance of elevators and escalators and two years of experience performing jurisdictional inspections.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and may involve working in confined and elevated spaces. The successful candidate will be required to work a 40-hour workweek with flexible work arrangements and may be required to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
