Cook - Hotel Paso Del Norte

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Hotel Paso Del Norte in El Paso, TX. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and specifications to ensure consistency and high guest satisfaction.
- Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production.
- Visually inspect and select only the highest-quality food items for preparation.
- Check and control the proper storage of product and maintain quality standards.
- Keep all refrigeration, equipment, and storage areas clean and in working condition to comply with health department regulations.
- Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation and food safety.
- Knowledge of operating all kitchen equipment, including stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, steamers, kettles, etc.
- Promptly report all maintenance issues and properly receive and store food and other deliveries.
- Consult with upper kitchen management and other departments related to the Food & Beverage Department.
- Participate in long-range planning and ongoing hotel programs for continuous improvement.
- Participate in physical inventories and maintain effective communication through meetings and memorandums.
- Be available to help other departments in emergency situations and perform other assignments as directed by supervisor.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes and standards.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic computational ability and ability to read recipes and follow instructions.
- Ability to physically self-demonstrate culinary techniques and create appropriate buffet displays.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and physically handle knives, pots, and other equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds.
