Job SummaryThe Clinical Technician provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse and performs other tasks necessary for unit operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver patient care, assist with patient activities, and reinforce patient education.
- Manage a multiple patient care assignment based on unit acuity and staffing levels.
- Respond to patient requests, communicate with caregivers, and recognize emergency measures.
- Enter timely and accurate documentation into the electronic medical record.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens to the lab, utilizing Universal Precautions.
- Provide adjunct care, including enemas, surgical preps, ice packs, and heat treatments.
- Assist with patient repositioning, food and water intake, and output monitoring.
- Apply simple dressings, perform glucometer finger sticks, and assist with restraint application.
- Transport patients to other areas of the hospital as needed.
- Minimum of High School diploma or GED required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Must satisfy one of the following:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current State of Florida licensure.
- RN Student with completed nursing fundamentals or caring scholar course and active enrollment in an RN Nursing program.
- Graduate of an RN program pending authorization to test for the NCLEX or has not passed their first NCLEX and is awaiting second test.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with current valid Florida Licensure and work experience required.
- Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
