Position Overview

The Electronics Technician plays a crucial role in supporting project teams through the electronic testing and development of innovative products. This position involves collaboration within an electronic product development team, requiring minimal supervision while leveraging a comprehensive skill set in electronics and product knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to all project team members, contributing to the construction, testing, and documentation of new designs, as well as supporting existing products.
  • Effectively manage time and deliverables with limited oversight to achieve project objectives.
  • Construct designs under the guidance of the design team.
  • Participate in product validation testing as instructed.
  • Assist in preparing necessary documentation for the development and release of new designs, gaining familiarity with company design and release protocols.
  • Engage in engineering prototype builds alongside Operations, Development Engineers, and Contract Manufacturers.
  • Support the debugging of prototype designs and troubleshoot current products.
  • Procure component parts as directed by the design team.
  • Compile information for design reviews.
  • Prepare design documentation essential for product release, maintaining Bills of Material and cost estimates throughout the development process.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This position is primarily office-based, necessitating significant computer use.
  • Involves light assembly tasks and occasional heavy lifting.
  • May require work in a shop environment or on vehicles.
  • Some travel may be necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent education or experience.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience is required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to collaborate directly with Customer Service, Operations, and Sales on product-related matters.
  • Proficiency in using schematic capture tools to maintain or create schematics.
  • Capability to perform root cause analysis on moderately complex design issues with the assistance of design engineers.
  • Basic understanding of product usage from the customer's perspective, with the ability to demonstrate product functionality.
  • Familiarity with current manufacturing processes and associated hardware and software testing tools.
  • Assist in identifying causes of customer complaints and product returns.
  • Utilize structured troubleshooting methodologies, such as 8D.
