Substation Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Substation Design Engineer to join our team in Portland, ME. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in preparing engineering designs for substation projects, from simple device replacements to large greenfield substation sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium, and High Voltage).
  • Collaborating with designers and CADD technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications and requirements.
  • Developing design deliverables, including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes, communications plans, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
  • Performing site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects.

Requirements:

  • Experience using electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a design engineer.
  • Prior experience in substation design.
  • Experience using Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
