Polysomnography Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnography Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Polysomnography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing outpatient sleep disorder studies, preparing and testing patients, and ensuring the accuracy of sleep/wake stages and clinical event data.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and calibrate equipment for sleep studies, ensuring proper functioning and signals.
- Select and apply monitoring electrodes, bands, thermistors, and other probes to patients' bodies.
- Prepare positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fittings and implement interventions as needed.
- Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and generating accurate reports.
- Monitor study-tracing quality, eliminate artifacts, and complete data collection processes.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days.
- Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) registration from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) within 2 years.
- Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) certification from the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) within 2 years.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist-Sleep Disorders Specialty (RRT-SDS) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 2 years.
Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited or approved program. No prior experience required.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull with 30 lbs of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
Working ConditionsMay drive between sites, exposed to road hazards, and operate equipment essential to performing the job.
