Job Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team.
This role involves assisting the medical and nursing staff in delivering care to patients of various ages during outpatient services by performing essential clerical tasks.
The specialist will gather crucial information during the intake process to aid medical staff in diagnosing and treating patients. This includes collecting patient history, measurements, vital signs, allergies, medications, and previous medical procedures. The role also involves assisting with the application and removal of casts.Schedule:
Full-time, Monday to Friday (in-person)
Holidays: 9 observed holidays annually
Compensation range:
The placement within the compensation range will be determined based on qualifications, professional experience, and educational background.
Responsibilities:
Assessment/Patient Care
- Support physicians, nursing, and other healthcare professionals with procedures, as well as the intake and discharge processes. Accurately document findings during the intake process in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Measure, weigh, and obtain vital signs and pulse oximetry, accurately documenting results in the system. Perform EKGs, pulmonary function tests, and lab draws as required.
- Facilitate effective communication with patients and their families to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
- Assist patients in transferring to examination rooms and other departments as needed. Inform patients of any delays in their care. Escort patients to additional services when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality in all interactions with patients, families, staff, and visitors. Avoid discussions regarding specific patients or situations in public areas.
Qualifications:
Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon the first day of employment (through the American Heart Association)
Knowledge of medical terminology
Comfortable working with electronic medical records
Strong customer service and communication skills with a commitment to teamwork
COVID-19 Vaccination
Preferred:
Certification or completion of a Medical Assistant program
At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic setting
2 years of recent experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office (beyond internship)
