About the U.S. Army Cryptologic Linguist Role

The U.S. Army is seeking highly skilled Intelligence Language Specialists to join their team in Central Virginia. As a key member of the Army's signals intelligence community, you will be responsible for identifying foreign language communications using advanced signals equipment.

**Job Responsibilities:**

  • Foreign Language Identification: Analyze and categorize foreign communications from assigned geographic areas, providing critical insights to support mission reporting requirements.
  • Translation Expertise: Provide translation services to analysts, utilizing your fluency in multiple languages to facilitate effective communication.
  • Signals Intelligence: Operate systems to support signals intelligence tasking, reporting, and coordination, ensuring seamless collaboration between teams.
  • Communication Analysis: Recognize changes in transmission modes and notify relevant authorities, demonstrating your expertise in signals intelligence.

**Requirements and Qualifications:**

  • Language Skills: Fluency in one or more foreign languages, with the ability to communicate idiomatically without accent or impediment.
  • Security Clearance: Top Secret security clearance, with a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Education and Training: Completion of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC), followed by on-the-job instruction.
  • Age and Citizenship: Must be between 17-34 years old and a U.S. citizen.

As an Intelligence Language Specialist with the U.S. Army, you can expect a competitive salary, ranging from $60,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
