Medical Office Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Medical Office Assistant to join our team at UPMC. This is a full-time opportunity with a salary range of $43,000 to $53,000 per year, depending on experience.
Job Description:This medical office assistant role is responsible for providing excellent patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a medical office setting and possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Responsibilities:- Check patient schedules and organize patient flow to ensure efficient use of time.
- Accompany patients to exam rooms and assist with walking, transfers, and dressing as needed.
- Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings as required.
- Relay instructions to patients and families.
- Send and receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other state and federal regulations.
- Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control.
- Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam rooms as needed.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs as required.
- Document patient information into the medical record.
- Answer phone calls and provide patient education as directed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
This role requires:
- CPR certification.
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting.
- Act 33 with renewal.
- Act 34 with renewal.
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
