Professional Youth Mentor

Friends of the Children - SF Bay Area is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Professional Youth Mentor to join our team. As a Professional Youth Mentor, you will be responsible for developing intensive, long-term relationships with elementary school students who face significant systemic barriers and inequalities.
About the Role
Our Professional Youth Mentors work closely with our children to identify and build on their strengths, talents, and abilities. You will help assure their physical and emotional well-being, teach life and academic skills, and support them and their families in connecting with other services and resources.
Responsibilities
* Develop trusting relationships with 8 youth in a classroom setting and in the community
* Nurture and promote the child's individual strengths, talents, and abilities
* Help assure physical and emotional well-being
* Teach life and academic skills
* Support youth and their families, and connect them to other services and resources
Requirements
* At least 2 years of youth development experience with elementary and/or middle-school age youth, ideally in a school-based setting providing enrichment services
* Familiarity with under-resourced communities of color is required
* Ability to commit to building a culture of mutual accountability, inclusiveness, and respect
* Must be comfortable using web-based data management tools and online educational tools
* Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Calendar Teams, Excel, Word required
