About the Role

Ferretti Search is partnering with a prominent manufacturer specializing in high-precision components. We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead our engineering department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Department Management: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring efficient and effective performance.
  • Identify and Resolve Issues: Identify and resolve issues, implement necessary changes, and monitor ongoing progress.
  • Production Meetings: Regularly attend production meetings to provide status updates and support product launches.
  • Engineering Masters: Supervise the development and maintenance of Engineering Masters.
  • Client Visits: Participate in on-site client visits and represent the engineering department.
Budget and Resource Management
  • Department Budget: Manage the department's budget, including software licenses, training, travel, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Workload Coordination: Coordinate the department's workload, ensuring tasks are scheduled and hours are utilized effectively.
  • Compliance: Maintain and enforce compliance with directory structures and other organizational protocols.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Cross-Training: Cross-train employees to ensure coverage across all critical functions.
  • Performance Goals: Set performance goals for employees and regularly monitor their progress.
  • Employee Development: Lead employee development initiatives, including skill development in programming, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Positive Working Environment: Foster a positive working environment by promoting strong relationships within the team and across departments.
Process Improvement and Compliance
  • Machining Times: Monitor machining times to ensure they align with quoted estimates.
  • Program Improvement: Proactively manage and improve existing programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Setup and Teardown Documentation: Oversee the creation and maintenance of setup and teardown documentation.
  • Operations Support: Act as the primary engineering contact for operations support.
Project Management and Collaboration
  • Project Schedules: Manage all project schedules and ensure timely completion of department projects.
  • Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manufacturing Support: Support the manufacturing process as needed in various capacities.
Requirements
  • Industry Experience: Must have fastener experience and knowledge of metalworking and manufacturing processes, including 5-axis mill turn, 3-axis lathes, Swiss machining, grinding, and work holding.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, CAD (SolidWorks), and CAM software (AutoCAD Part Maker, SurfCam, Mastercam, etc.).
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor team members. Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable to all organizational levels.
  • Organizational and Problem-Solving Abilities: Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on process improvement.
