Job Description for Medical Director Primary Care

As the Medical Director of Primary Care, you will lead our team of healthcare professionals in providing exceptional patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the operations of our Ambulatory Care department, ensuring that quality, safety, and appropriateness of care are continually monitored and evaluated.
  • Staff Management: Arrange staff coverage during non-administrative hours and communicate availability to relevant staff members.
  • Education and Training: Work with the Designated Education Officer and other stakeholders to ensure teaching programs on Medicine are appropriate and that supervision of residents and students is provided.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines using national guidelines when available, ensuring adequate and comprehensive services.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate the use of resources, including space, supplies, and staffing, with the appropriate Committee/Board.
  • New Staff Orientation: Ensure all new staff members receive a formal orientation to Ambulatory care policy and procedures and to the responsibilities of their specific role.
  • Quality Improvement: Ensure delivery of high-quality care for Ambulatory care patients by working with the Chief/Assistant Chief of Ambulatory care and coordinating service level Quality Improvement and Utilization Review.
  • Staff Development: Ensure adequate medical record documentation, organize staff in-service programs, and encourage continuing medical education to staff while participating in these activities.
