Job Description Summary:

This position supports the Outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Health team, providing therapy services to children and adolescents and their families in a free-standing behavioral health clinic.

Working closely with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the team of therapists allows for close collaboration and partnership when providing patient care.

The individual filling this position also has the unique opportunity to work closely and collaborate with Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Pediatric Neuropsychology, Inpatient Behavioral Health, and the crisis team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides pediatric individual and family therapy services utilizing a solution-focused, brief therapy framework.
  • Interviews and evaluates patients, establishes diagnosis, and monitors patients' behavior, developing a treatment plan collaboratively with the patient.
  • Provides case management, outreach, and aftercare services to patients.
  • Counsels crisis patients to stabilize patients' condition, using short-term crisis intervention techniques and/or referral to other support services.
  • Develops and leads at least one treatment and/or skills-building group.
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing, providing coverage to maintain services as needed.
Clinical Supervision:
  • Some therapist roles may provide supervision of the diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, treatment process, and other professional duties.
  • Directs supervisees on approaches to patient needs or suggests alternative approaches for resolution of problems.
Recordkeeping:

Completes various administrative and insurance forms to assure accurate data collection for billing, management information systems, and other purposes in accord with agency policies and procedures.

  • Maintains concise, comprehensive case records by following established agency policies and procedures.
Agency and Training Activities:
  • Actively participates in agency activities and in the community in ways that make a positive contribution to agency operations.
  • Demonstrates constructive involvement with professionals in the agency and in the community.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with court, police, human services, entitlement, and governmental agencies, health services vendors, and private organizations to enhance service delivery and agency image.
Licensure:

Social Worker, Clinical, or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.

Education/Experience Required:

MA/MS Psych or Counseling, MSW, 2 years of experience in a mental health or related setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Clinically appropriate skills.
  • Courteous and professional.
  • Demonstrates keyboard skills and familiarity with a Windows environment.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Demonstrates commitment to patient-focused care, positive, effective leadership in problem-solving, and ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints and in difficult situations.

May be exposed to patients who potentially could be violent.

Provides coverage for evening and weekend programming as necessary.
