Job Description

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in Arthur, IL. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic issues, and ensuring our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles is in top condition.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic issues.
  • Perform standard component inspections and repairs, and identify root causes of basic failures/conditions.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer tools when applicable.
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions.
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification, or post-secondary degree in a related field, preferred.
  • Basic tools, required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred.
  • Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
