Chicago State University is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Elementary Education to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, as well as engaging in research and service activities.
Key Responsibilities- Teach a minimum of 4 courses per semester, with the opportunity to develop and teach new courses
- Engage in research and/or creative activity germane to the academic discipline, resulting in submissions of material(s) as works in refereed professional and/or trade-specific publications
- Participate in professional development activities and engage in assessment activities related to accreditation and program evaluation
- Serve on committees, programs, and special task forces at the department, college, university, professional and community levels
- Earned Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or any other education related field with focus on Elementary or Middle Grades Education
- Minimum three years as teacher of record at the Elementary or Middle Grades levels
- Illinois Professional Educator License directly related to the Department of Education Studies and the Programs of Elementary, Middle Level with a content concentration in mathematics
- Defined scholarly research agenda
- Collaborative experiences with public school systems, as well as public and private agencies relevant to the Elementary and Middle Level Grades discipline
- Experience in mathematics and technology across grades 1-8
- Evidence of teaching at the college/university level for a minimum of two years
- Experience supervising student teaching and other field experience
- Experience with preparation for program recognition and/or accreditation
