Job Title: School Nurse - LPN

KIPP Massachusetts Public Charter Schools is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a School Nurse - LPN. This role is a critical part of our school community, providing medical care and support to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and implement professional standards of school nursing practice as established by the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act.
  • Apply nursing practices to the unique needs of individuals, groups, and populations of the school.
  • Follow state and local health practice statutes, district policies, and administrative guidelines.
  • Serve as a medical resource and health advocate for students and staff.
  • Provide appropriate health assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referrals for students, including those with acute/chronic health conditions and in emergency situations.
  • Administer over-the-counter medications and prescribed medications with doctor's orders included.
  • Conduct mandated health screenings.
  • Ensure the privacy and ethical standards mandated by the state of Massachusetts.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Follow all expectations in the students Individualized Health Care Plan + Individualized Education Program.
  • Internalize and implement documentation.
  • Review any IEPs, ICHPs, and Doctor's Orders in collaboration with the Campus Nurse Lead.
  • Be primarily responsible for the student's daily medical care while at school and during school-related events during the school day (ex. field trips), as outlined by the student's Individual Health Care Plan + Individualized Education Program.
  • Be primarily responsible for the student's medical care on transportation to and from school in the event that a student has transportation with a nurse as mandated by their Individualized Health Care Plan and/or Individualized Education Program.
  • Provide toileting support as needed.
  • Provide copies of all medical orders/updates and other relevant medical paperwork to the Campus Nurse Lead.
  • Document all medical interventions with the student while at school, on transportation to and from school, and during school-related events in SNAP at the time of the medical intervention and no later than the end of the school day.
  • Communicate with campus nursing team, classroom teachers and staff, and student's family about student medical needs and other issues related to the student.
  • Communicate with Campus Nurse Lead + Director of Strategic Projects if you are absent from work.
Requirements:

  • Proven track record of protecting the confidentiality of students, staff, families, and others.
  • Experience with clerical proficiency.
  • Computer literacy and baseline familiarity with Google Suite.
  • Bedside nursing experience (one year preferred).
  • BLS CPR/AED certified.
  • Experience with SNAP health portal (preferred, but will train).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) (preferred).
  • Eligibility as a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) School Nurse (preferred).
  • Registered through the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN).
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Massachusetts in good standing.
  • Pass Criminal Background Checks.
What We Offer:

The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $55,000 (per 1.0 FTE). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus—and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years, as well as other bonuses, when eligible.
