POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Relations Advancement Officer plays a vital role within the Culinary Institute of America's (CIA) Advancement Division, specifically on the Corporate Relations (CR) team. This position is responsible for overseeing the Gift-in-Kind (GIK) Equipment Curriculum Program, aiming to support the Institute's strategic and financial objectives through the development and management of a comprehensive GIK Equipment initiative. The officer will collaborate with various teams within the Advancement Division to manage the GIK program and foster partnerships that align with the CIA's goals. The role also entails identifying, cultivating, and soliciting annual contributions, with a target of generating $1,000,000 or more in GIK Equipment and $250,000 or more from a personal portfolio annually.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising:

  • Lead the GIK Equipment Curriculum Program, aiming to secure over $1 million annually in donated quality equipment to enhance CIA's culinary education across multiple campuses.
  • Identify and engage new industry partners while strengthening relationships with existing donors to increase philanthropic contributions.
  • Facilitate donor cultivation through campus visits, meetings, and events that encourage giving.
  • Manage a portfolio of up to 150 donors, ensuring performance metrics are met and revenue goals are achieved.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse audience of industry leaders across various sectors.
Management:
  • Oversee relationships with over 70 equipment manufacturing donors, managing unique terms related to donations and campus usage.
  • Prepare agreements and proposals for prospective donors.
  • Implement a strategic travel schedule to meet with prospects and attend relevant industry conferences.
Stewardship:
  • Manage stewardship efforts for individual donor portfolios, collaborating with the CR team as necessary.
  • Work with the Advancement Communications Manager to develop effective stewardship strategies.
  • Create case studies and materials for donor recognition and stewardship.
  • Contribute to monthly CR Donor Report Cards and participate in marketing and communications meetings.
  • Maintain updated donor contacts and track progress using internal systems.
Events and Outreach:
  • Build relationships with constituents to support major CIA events.
  • Participate in key fundraising events and meetings focused on business development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, preferably in fundraising, advancement, development, communications, business, finance, or a related field.
Experience:
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in fundraising, sales, purchasing, or higher education with a proven track record of success.
  • Demonstrated success in previous roles within corporate, foundation, or organizational settings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with the food service industry, including knowledge of food products, equipment, and services.
  • Experience in corporate fundraising or food and beverage operations.
  • Understanding of purchasing, accounting, and distribution processes.
  • Background in business development.
