We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our team at the City of Durham. As a key member of our Water Management Department, you will play a critical role in the planning, design, and implementation of water and wastewater treatment projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and implement project plans, budgets, and schedules, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering, with a focus on project management and design.
- North Carolina Professional Engineer Registration or equivalent.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license.
- 2 or more years of experience managing public bids for water and wastewater capital projects.
- Knowledge of methods used in design and operation of water and wastewater treatment plants and/or dams.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulatory codes relevant to design, permitting, and operation of water and wastewater treatment plants and/or dams.
