Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Water Resources Engineer to join our team at the City of Durham. As a key member of our Water Management department, you will be responsible for managing complex water resources projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage water resources projects, including planning, design, and construction
  • Develop and implement project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in water resources engineering or a related field
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer Registration or equivalent
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be beneficial for this role include:

  • 2 or more years of experience managing public bids for water/wastewater capital projects
  • Knowledge of methods used in design and operation of water/wastewater treatment plants and/or dams
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulatory codes relevant to design, permitting, and operation of water/wastewater treatment plants and/or dams
