Job Summary

The Chief Information Officer is responsible for establishing and directing the strategic long-term objectives, policies, and procedures for Information Technology Services. This role involves assessing the University's long-term systems requirements and identifying necessary hardware acquisitions to meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees staffing resources within the department, providing leadership and guidance to department directors, addressing university needs, identifying development requirements, and facilitating professional growth opportunities. Manages employee conflicts and performance challenges, and engages with students, faculty, and staff to gather feedback and recommendations.
  • Addresses resource allocation challenges and provides oversight for each department's resources.
  • Administers budgets and procurement processes, identifying areas for efficiency improvements and implementing cost-saving strategies. Evaluates external technology procurement requests to ensure alignment with University objectives.
  • Conducts research and assessment of emerging technologies, collaborating with developers, integrators, and other educational institutions to explore solutions for challenges and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Coordinates comprehensive technology initiatives across the campus, identifying opportunities, defining objectives, and formulating plans for projects aimed at enhancing existing services or introducing new offerings.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
8 years of management experience in information technology within a collaborative environment
5 years of experience in business continuity planning, auditing, risk management, and contract negotiation
5 years of customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field
Experience in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge: Understanding of current technologies and their application in higher education; awareness of technology trends for future opportunities; knowledge of computer networks, databases, application development, and information security.

Skills: Proficient in managing technical teams; strong customer service skills; effective oral and written communication abilities.

Abilities: Capable of evaluating complex non-technical issues to identify technology solutions; adaptable to unforeseen circumstances; skilled in conducting cost-effectiveness analyses.
