Job Title: Utility System Worker II

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Utility System Worker II to join our team at the City of Henderson, KY. As a key member of our utility operations team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of water lines, wastewater lines, and stormwater lines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and maintain water mains, fire hydrants, and irrigation, residential, and commercial water service taps.
  • Locate and repair water main and service line leaks and breaks.
  • Install main and service line valves and perform line stops using Hydra-Stop.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools associated with department activities, including utility trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, end loaders, trenchers, tapping machines, blacktop tampers, fork lifts, air compressors, jack hammers, pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, concrete saws, chain saws, grinders, post drivers, shovels, pick axes, rakes, brooms, and hand tools.
  • Perform routine safety inspections of work areas and report or correct all identified hazards.
  • Assist with accident investigations and participate in finding solutions to safety or health-related hazards.
  • Provide information to the general public while in the field about the work being performed.
  • Work on-call as assigned and operate general office equipment and assigned vehicles as necessary to complete essential functions.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Class 1 (or higher) Water Distribution or Wastewater Collections license (desired).
