Job Title: Controls Technician

We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our team at PremiStar. As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for programming, installing, and troubleshooting building automation systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Program and install building automation systems, including boiler and chiller plants, custom AHUs, and rooftop units.
  • Integrate systems with ancillary systems and ensure proper operation of all control devices.
  • Troubleshoot existing installations and diagnose problems to the component level.
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Discuss automation system malfunctions with customers to isolate problems or verify corrections.
  • Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and unusual occurrences, as well as time and materials expended on work orders.
  • Study blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturers' recommendations to ensure proper installation of components.
  • Run and terminate low-voltage wiring and cabling as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience programming and installing building automation systems, including boiler and chiller plants, custom AHUs, and rooftop units.
  • Knowledge and experience programming fully programmable and application-specific controllers.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of electrical devices.
  • Ability to communicate with internal teams and customers.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
Physical Demands:

This position requires physical ability to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and HVAC equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. This position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

Work Environment:

This job operates primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, including extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
