Job Summary:

The Safety and Rescue Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers and crew members onboard the cruise ship. This position requires a high level of physical fitness, strong swimming skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Oversight:
Monitor swimming pools, water slides, and other aquatic facilities to ensure they are used safely and in accordance with established guidelines. Identify potential safety hazards and report them to the appropriate departments.

Emergency Response:
Be prepared to respond promptly to any aquatic emergencies, including drowning incidents, medical situations, and water-related accidents. Administer first aid and perform CPR when necessary.

Guest Assistance:
Provide a welcoming and approachable presence for passengers, answering questions, offering assistance, and promoting a positive and enjoyable poolside experience.

Enforce Rules:
Enforce cruise ship policies and pool safety rules to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment. Politely communicate rules and guidelines to passengers.

Communication:
Maintain effective communication with other lifeguards, crew members, and supervisors. Report any potential safety hazards, maintenance issues, or incidents to the appropriate departments.

Equipment Maintenance:
Regularly inspect and maintain safety equipment such as rescue tubes, life jackets, and first aid kits. Ensure all equipment is in good working condition.

Training and Drills:
Participate in regular training sessions and emergency response drills to keep skills sharp and stay updated on safety protocols.

Documentation:
Complete incident reports, accident forms, and other required paperwork accurately and promptly. Maintain clear and organized records of incidents and interventions.

Crowd Management:
Monitor crowd density in pool areas and ensure that safe capacity limits are not exceeded. Implement crowd control measures as needed.

Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other lifeguards, pool attendants, and crew members to maintain a cohesive and efficient safety team.

Qualifications:

Certification:
Possess a valid lifeguard certification from a recognized training organization, including CPR and first aid certifications.

Swimming Proficiency:
Strong swimming skills and the ability to respond quickly and effectively in water-related emergencies.

Physical Fitness:
Maintain good physical condition to meet the demands of performing rescues and providing assistance in water.

Communication Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with passengers and crew members from diverse backgrounds.

Calm Under Pressure:
Ability to remain composed and make sound decisions in high-stress situations.

Attention to Detail:
Keen observation skills to identify potential safety hazards and rule violations.

Working Conditions:
The role involves prolonged periods of standing, patrolling, and observing pool areas. Work shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Lifeguards are exposed to outdoor weather conditions and direct sunlight. The cruise ship environment may involve noise, motion, and limited personal space.
