To date, Blue Ridge Power has successfully installed 8 GW of solar infrastructure nationwide and employs approximately 700 dedicated professionals.
We are currently seeking a Manager, Safety to enhance our safety initiatives across utility-scale solar projects. This role is crucial in fostering a safety-first culture at project sites, emphasizing teamwork and collaboration among all team members. Please note that this position is classified as safety-sensitive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and advocate for the company's safety program across utility-scale solar projects.
- Effectively communicate the company's safety philosophies and values to all personnel, ensuring compliance and commitment to safety protocols.
- Provide leadership in safety practices and cultivate a positive safety culture.
- Engage with field teams daily to support the implementation of safety initiatives and encourage ownership of safety practices.
- Facilitate safety meetings, including orientations, toolbox talks, and corporate safety updates.
- Conduct thorough job site safety inspections and audits.
- Offer coaching and mentorship to employees regarding safe and unsafe behaviors.
- Lead incident investigations and identify root causes of accidents.
- Monitor and address site safety concerns in collaboration with operational leaders.
- Review internal safety reports to ensure relevant safety information is integrated into project planning.
- Coordinate responses to OSHA audits as directed by the Regional Safety Manager.
- Ensure timely reporting of serious incidents to the Regional Safety Manager and operational leaders.
- Assist construction leadership in Job Safety Analysis and other safety-related meetings.
- Recommend improvements to processes and safety features to minimize hazards.
- Maintain all necessary health and safety documentation and training records in accordance with company policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Safety Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and health management.
- Prior experience in a managerial role is essential.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in electrical safety is advantageous.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operations is a plus.
- Background in the solar or renewable energy sector is preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish is beneficial.
Education and Certifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- OSHA 500 outreach training is required.
- OSHA 510 certification is mandatory.
- BCSP Certification (e.g., CHST) is preferred.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Work Environment:
- This position involves travel to various project sites.
- Travel may be extensive, up to 100%.
- Compliance with all company safety standards and procedures, including OSHA regulations, is required.
- Work may be conducted outdoors in varying climates.
- Physical demands include the ability to sit, stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods, as well as lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
