Position Overview: The RN Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) / Infection Preventionist (IP) plays a dual role in overseeing the educational initiatives within the facility while also managing the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, organize, and implement comprehensive in-service training programs to ensure the safety and well-being of all patients, adhering to relevant laws and Life Care standards.
  • Assess the quality of care provided to residents, focusing on Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI). Collect and analyze infection data, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor compliance with infection control protocols, utilizing appropriate barriers and preventive measures. Conduct educational sessions for staff, residents, and their families.
  • Report directly to the Director of Nursing (DON) regarding infection control practices and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing or higher).
  • State-specific certifications or training in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in geriatric nursing.
  • Strong desire and capability to educate nursing staff and other associates.
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing practices, regulations, and guidelines relevant to post-acute care facilities.
  • Ability to implement and interpret educational programs and policies related to the facility's training.
  • Responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies, including the CDC.
  • Act as the primary Infection Prevention Coordinator for COVID-19 initiatives, in line with CDC guidelines.
  • Must work onsite at the facility, not in a consulting capacity or at a separate location.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to company policies regarding compliance and conduct.
  • Foster a culture of integrity and professionalism, ensuring adherence to the organization's Code of Conduct.
  • Actively engage in the compliance program, ensuring full participation from all department staff.
