About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Business Development Manager to join our Healthcare and Life Sciences team at Amazon. As a key member of our startup business development team, you will be responsible for identifying and engaging with high-potential healthcare and life sciences startups, and developing strategic relationships with venture capital firms investing in these sectors.

As a Business Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver on our strategy to build mindshare and broaden the use of Amazon's cloud computing platform with healthcare and life sciences startups. You will use data to identify and execute a strategy to engage and influence companies ranging from health-tech to biotech and med-tech.

Key responsibilities will include working with founders and leaders of venture-backed startups to identify their technical and commercial challenges and opportunities, and mapping those needs onto Amazon's assets and capabilities. You will also develop and hold relationships with key venture funds and investors in healthcare and life sciences, and contribute to the development of our industry strategy.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of business-world experience spanning the breadth of digital health, drugs, diagnostics, devices, and life science tools
  • Significant depth of medical, scientific, and technical knowledge
  • Exited founder/CxO/operator of at least one healthcare and/or life science venture that offered enterprise software, technology-enabled services, hardware-based products, or developed novel therapeutic or diagnostic products involving computing or data science
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to build trust and manage relationships with C-level leadership/managing directors of strategically important organizations
  • Proven ability to execute as an individual contributor in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities, and limited resources
  • Experience working effectively and cross-functionally within a large organization
  • Experience having raised venture capital financing for said venture(s) or have served as an early-stage (seed, Series A, Series B) venture capital investor
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, including compute, storage, networking, databases, machine learning, and IoT
