Role Summary:

The primary function of the Security Officer is to safeguard individuals, assets, and sensitive information belonging to the organization while addressing client requirements effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of company properties, personnel, and resources by conducting regular patrols of facilities and grounds. Offer protective escorts as necessary or upon request. Manage traffic and enforce parking regulations. Investigate safety and security incidents as assigned and complete necessary documentation.
  • Oversee security surveillance systems, access control mechanisms, and other related alarm, security, or fire safety apparatus. Respond in accordance with established departmental protocols.
  • Address safety and security inquiries following departmental guidelines.
  • Monitor adherence to safety and security standards as mandated by OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a preference for a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in reading computer screens, operating computer terminals, and utilizing various electronic security devices, two-way radio systems, and telephones. Capable of typing at least 35-40 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with diverse safety and security equipment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with various software applications, with a quick adaptability to new programs.
  • Ability to manage confidential information discreetly.
  • Calmness under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Competence in dealing with uncooperative or aggressive individuals.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Availability to work varied shifts and overtime as necessary.
Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of one year of security or related experience is required, preferably in a corporate or client-facing context.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possession of a current Kansas City, Missouri Police Department Private Officer's Commission license or eligibility to obtain the appropriate KCPD license.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are mandatory.
  • A high school diploma is required; two years of college education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of access control, video surveillance, firefighting equipment, and first aid tools is essential.
Working Environment:
  • Exposure to various weather conditions and extreme temperatures may occur during patrols.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
