Job Summary

As a Surgical Technologist at Henry Community Health, you will play a vital role in preparing and maintaining the sterile operative area of the patient before, during, and after operation. This position requires proficiency in the application of sterile procedures in an operating room setting, acquired after graduation from a surgical technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain the sterile operative area of the patient before, during, and after operation.
  • Place equipment and supplies in the OR according to surgeon's preference cards.
  • Assist during surgery in various ways, such as donning gowns and gloves, adjusting surgical equipment, handing surgeon instruments, holding retractors, and counting sponges, needles, and instruments used during the operation.
  • Keep surgeons' preference card information current.
  • Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Cross-trained to function adequately in C.S. and receiving and decontamination.

Qualifications
  • Work requires proficiency in the application of sterile procedures in an operating room setting.
  • This is acquired after graduation from a surgical technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation.
  • Work requires immediate response to emergency procedures, which requires the individual to respond within thirty minutes to the hospital, as well as have a phone.
