Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Osceola Medical Center. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Don and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and operating room attire.
  • Gather and prepare necessary supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Assist with setting up the sterile back table and Mayo stand.
  • Participate in surgical site and patient verification during the time-out procedure.
  • Secure tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.
  • Anticipate and prepare additional instrumentation, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.
  • Measure and pass medications, hemostatic agents, and irrigation solutions.
  • Hold retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon.
  • Sponge or suction the operative site.
  • Apply electrocautery to clamps or forceps on bleeders.
  • Cut suture material as directed by the surgeon.
  • Coordinate camera or robotic arms/instruments during endoscopic surgery.
  • Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
  • Perform additional counts as necessary.
  • Prepare sterile dressings and/or immobilization devices.
  • Pass off specimen(s) as appropriate.
  • Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Assist with terminal cleaning of the room.
  • Assist in prepping the OR for the next patient.
  • Participate in debriefing and quality improvement practices.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an operating room technician program or military operating room training, or minimum of 2 years of varied operating room scrubbing experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • National Board Certification, preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of operating room experience, preferred.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
