About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Assistant/Laborer to join our team at Centerline. As a key member of our Underground Crew, you will play a critical role in the installation and maintenance of underground telecom infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Familiarize yourself with and operate underground utility construction tools, including jackhammers, chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand tools.
  • Drive to and from job sites throughout New England, performing general construction labor tasks, including loading, digging, and placing underground cabling of varying sizes, shapes, and weights.
  • Ensure your own safety and the safety of your colleagues and other crew members on the job site, adhering to all relevant safety protocols and construction standards.
  • Make independent judgments and perform repetitive tasks with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Regularly interact with co-workers and customers, working collaboratively as part of a team environment.
  • Travel throughout the region with the Underground Crew, learning on the job and expanding your skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
  • Active Class A CDL is desired but not required.
  • MA Hydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license is a plus.
  • Previous experience in underground utility or communications construction is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to arrive at work daily and on time, with a strong commitment to following directions and instructions.
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of construction duties.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass random driver's license screenings.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and perform repetitive tasks with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Regular interaction with co-workers and customers.
  • Within 90 days of start date, complete and pass OSHA-10 Certification, provided by the company.
  • Pass and maintain a DOT Physical.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Work Environment
    • Repetitive and frequent ability to lift 40 lbs from floor to above head continuously.
    • Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach, and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
    • Exposure to environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration, and loud noise.
Work Environment

Our team members work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with some exposure to hazards or physical risks. To ensure a safe working environment, we follow basic safety precautions.
