Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the incumbent is tasked with evaluating, strategizing, and executing care protocols specifically related to wound treatment and management.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education

Must possess an Associate Degree in Nursing or have successfully completed an accredited Registered Nursing Program, validated by licensure from a recognized institution; alternatively, a graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing Program is acceptable.


Experience

Prior experience in an Acute Care or Skilled Nursing Facility is preferred.


Licensure/Certification

Must hold a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse or LVN in the State of California. Current BLS certification is required. Training in Wound Management and familiarity with contemporary wound and skin care management protocols is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge of:

Institutional policies regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental protocols, infection control measures, and the Nursing Practice Act of California.

Familiarity with medical instruments and equipment, medical terminology, and standard hospital procedures.

Understanding of the uses, effects, and proper documentation of medications and narcotics, along with relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing nursing practices.


Ability to:

Develop and implement comprehensive wound care plans for residents.

Foster and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, residents, colleagues, and all stakeholders.

Effectively manage emergency situations, demonstrating sound judgment to prevent adverse outcomes for residents.

Stay informed about advancements in nursing specialization.

Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.

Demonstrate age-specific competency by providing care that meets the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients across various age groups.
