Job Summary

The Director of Housekeeping is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and sanitation of our hotel, guest rooms, public areas, and other assigned spaces. This role requires a strong leader who can direct and coordinate the functions of the Housekeeping and Laundry departments, ensuring impeccable levels of cleanliness and upkeep.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Supervise and motivate housekeeping and laundry employees to provide a safe and efficient work environment. This includes interviewing, scheduling, training, developing, empowering, coaching, and counseling staff, as well as conducting performance and salary reviews and recommending discipline and termination when necessary.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Supervise and inspect the daily cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, SOPs, and health/sanitation standards and regulations.
  • Expense Management: Monitor and report on expenses, including payroll and supplies, to aid in controlling costs while ensuring adequate staff and supplies are available to provide top-quality services.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Respond to guest requests, concerns, and problems to ensure guest satisfaction and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Refer and follow up on maintenance issues and problems with the Engineering department to protect hotel assets, ensure a safe and accident-free environment for guests and employees, and maintain/improve guest satisfaction.
  • Lost and Found: Log items into the Lost and Found and answer inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Emergency Procedures: Implement emergency training and procedures to ensure the protection of the hotel's guests, staff, and company assets.
Requirements
  • Education: One to two years of post-high school education.
  • Experience: Two to three years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s). Three to five years of experience in housekeeping operations is preferred, as is previous experience in a full-service Executive Housekeeper role and experience working in a union environment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Requires thorough knowledge of the Housekeeping field, including knowledge of company/hotel policies and procedures and the ability to determine the course of action based on these guidelines. Supervision/management skills, the ability to compile facts and figures, and the ability to analyze report data, prepare reports, and initiate correspondence are also required.
