Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager 2 to lead our Integration and Test team. As a key member of our software development lifecycle, you will be responsible for managing a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of software engineers to design, develop, and test software products.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
  • Manage and report budget and schedule status for software development.
  • Ensure earned value and schedule status is provided as required by the program.
  • Develop and manage detailed budgets and schedules and create work assignments for indirect tasking.
  • Support coordination and content for program EAC reviews at a rhythm defined by the program.
  • Provide Functional Management to direct reports, including career guidance, staffing, interviewing/onboarding, disciplinary actions, and direct engagement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development, OR a Master's degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development.
  • Prior leadership experience using agile development, including participating as Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Agile software development, object-oriented architecture and programming, software integration and testing.
  • At least 4 years of recent relevant experience with at least two of the following programming or scripting languages: Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, or KornShell.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies and service providers.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active/Current Special Program Access.
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline.
  • Advanced technical management degree.
  • Prior experience in engineering functional management is a plus.
  • Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees with a record of on-time performance.
  • Previous experience in developing proposal inputs (task descriptions and basis of estimate).
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities.
  • Prior experience with cost account management and task/resource planning.
  • Advanced experience with at least one of the following databases: Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch.
  • Advanced experience with at least one of the following container management tools: Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, Docker Swarm, Nomad, Redhat OpenShift.
  • Experience with application and container security.
  • Experience with Machine Learning Model development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
  • Experience with Java microservices, Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications, threading, intermediate object-oriented programming, design patterns, Data Distribution Service (DDS) messaging, web technologies, Unified Modeling Language (UML), database essentials and SQL/NoSQL.
  • Prior experience using Atlassian Tool Suite, JIRA, SonarQube.
