Minimum Qualifications for Security Clearance Investigator:
  • Completion of an approved OPM/National Training Standards (NTS) investigator program is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in conducting background investigations for FEDERAL entities is essential (we recommend at least 3 years of full-time experience as a field investigator for optimal success as an Independent Contractor).
  • Experience with FEDERAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATOR contracts is mandatory.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and a US Citizen.
  • An Active TOP SECRET CLEARANCE is required.
  • Ability to work remotely and travel, possessing a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for building rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Proficiency in personal computing and business software applications is required.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify key findings, and draw conclusions is crucial.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations/laws related to investigations is necessary.
Key Responsibilities of Security Clearance Investigator:
  • Conduct interviews, gather records, perform research, and compile investigation reports in accordance with federal standards and regulations.
  • Engage in face-to-face interviews with applicants, neighbors, coworkers, friends, and associates.
  • Execute record searches at law enforcement agencies, courthouses, mental health facilities, financial institutions, and educational establishments.
  • Assemble information into a clear and concise report that assesses employment suitability and security clearance eligibility, adhering to standardized reporting formats.
  • Meet quality, timeliness, and production metrics for all assigned tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and case review officers to ensure thorough investigations.
