Job Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will play a key role in enhancing plant operations by developing and implementing a robust continuous improvement program. This role will focus on optimizing operational efficiency, maintaining stringent quality assurance standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the execution of the continuous improvement program to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and collaborate with department leaders to optimize operational processes and implement best practices, targeting specific performance metrics such as cost of production, furnace energy efficiency, and furnace availability.
  • Plan and manage plant trials and projects in conjunction with the engineering and operations departments to ensure the quality metrics like the percentage of on-grade material and first-grade silicon produced are met.
  • Conduct risk management activities to ensure the continuity of production processes, focusing on reducing electrode defects and consumption rates.
  • Develop and facilitate training programs for employees to foster skill enhancement and productivity improvement, directly impacting DART rates and by-product generation rates.
  • Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and customer awareness throughout plant operations, aiming to reduce customer complaints and ensure compliance with the ISO 9001 standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (process, Mechanical, Metallurgical).
  • Demonstrated experience with quality systems and process optimization is advantageous.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across various departments to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, or other continuous improvement training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Environment

  • Performs jobs under varying conditions (dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, noise, etc.)
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, Floor to waist, Waist to shoulder. Overhead, Carry 20 feet.
  • Wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, and hearing protection)
