Position Overview:

As a key member of the Test Site Engineering team, the Senior Linux Systems Administrator will be based in Moorestown, NJ, and will play a crucial role in addressing end-user computing challenges while optimizing performance on various platforms, particularly Linux RedHat and RedHawk.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and uninstall hardware and software, including both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom applications.
  • Manage configuration, build automation, and release engineering processes.
  • Conduct fault detection and isolation to ensure system reliability.
  • Perform volume backups, system monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
  • Provide user support and maintain knowledge of internal and external network interfaces.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for individuals who possess:

  • Proficiency in scripting with at least one administrative language.
  • Experience in supporting Linux users within a local area network (LAN), including expertise in configuration management and build automation.
  • Familiarity with Rational ClearCase tools for software configuration management (SCM).
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A blend of technical expertise and a commitment to addressing user needs.
  • Attention to detail and the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of system administration, including tactical environments, network operations, user account management, and security protocols.
  • Understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • An active Security+ certification is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of both Windows and Linux systems, with a willingness to expand expertise in both areas.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in configuration and change management using tools such as Git, ClearCase, and ClearQuest.
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems and the ability to troubleshoot end-user computing issues independently.
  • Eligibility to obtain Security+ certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level, requiring U.S. citizenship.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Rational ClearCase tools for software configuration management.
  • Knowledge of data communications and networking principles.
  • Security+ certification.
  • Experience as an Administrator/Systems Engineer in both Linux and Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux RedHat and RedHawk Operating Systems, as well as networking and communication systems.
  • Experience in creating bash and perl scripts for environment setup within ClearCase.
  • Understanding of Agile processes and core digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong collaboration skills with customer/user representatives.

Security Clearance Requirement:

This position necessitates a government security clearance, and candidates must be U.S. citizens to be considered.


Work Environment:

This role requires onsite full-time engagement at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. We support various work schedules to provide flexibility, including standard 40-hour weeks and condensed schedules.
