Water Treatment Plant Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the County of Dare, NC. As a key member of our water treatment team, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our water treatment plant, ensuring the delivery of safe and clean drinking water to our community.

• Perform daily inspections of the plant to ensure proper operation and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
• Regulate and adjust motors, pumps, blowers, valves, and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions.
• Monitor gauges, meters, control panels, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Collect and verify samples and analyses, and assist with laboratory analyses as needed.
• Prepare and maintain records on plant operations, including meter readings and equipment maintenance.
• Perform general building and grounds maintenance duties, including receiving and unloading chemical deliveries.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to three years of experience in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• General knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance requirements of a water treatment plant.
• Ability to detect flaws in the operation of mechanical equipment and determine proper remedial measures.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read meters and charts accurately and maintain records of shift operations.
