Job Summary

This tenure-track faculty position is responsible for teaching and coordinating the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program core curricula. The faculty member will participate in the recruitment and retention of students; procure program material and instructional resources; have oversight of program accreditation and the advisory committee; and be responsible for the ongoing development, assessment, and revision of the programs' curricula.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Prepare for and teach a designated number of credits per fall and spring semesters with the possibility of summer semesters. Develop, assess, and revise the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program curricula.
  • Program Coordination: Participate in the recruitment and retention of students; procure program material and instructional resources; have oversight of program accreditation and the advisory committee.
  • Student Advisement and Retention: Advise students on courses, program, and career objectives with support. Maintain 5 office hours per week. Documentation of student advisement will occur using the College's online advising tracking system.
  • Student Advocacy: Commit to student learning and success and available to help students as needed to maximize student success and retention.
  • Shared Governance: Participate in all levels of shared College governance, including departmental, divisional, and institution-wide activities.
  • Professional Development: Maintain an approved professional development plan that supports the College's strategic goals and improves instructional quality.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Credentials: Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential and one or more of concentrations (Registered Vascular Technologist, Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer).
  • Experience: Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in education theories and techniques. Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong Organizational and Writing Skills: Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent advising/counseling skills.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of the Internet, discipline-specific software, Instructional Platforms (Brightspace D2L), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
