Dental Lab Support Specialist

Summary

This role is dedicated to supporting the dental program's skills laboratories within the Career Programs building. You will work closely with faculty, utilizing simulation technologies and other resources to help students achieve program objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty to evaluate lab curriculum for each course, ensuring alignment with program goals.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive curricula for each course, including defining purpose, objectives, outcomes, and learning activities.
  • Support the implementation of curricula alongside faculty, utilizing a range of equipment, supplies, and computer-based instruction tools.
  • Work with faculty to assess student achievement of learning outcomes through competency evaluations and skill assessments aligned with the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with dental assistant program faculty to maintain properly functioning equipment and supplies in the labs.
  • Assist faculty in setting up supplies and equipment for each practical skill demonstration.
  • Regularly assess all equipment to ensure proper maintenance and functionality according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
  • Participate in relevant division and college-wide committees and activities.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Dental Assistant is required.
  • Previous experience managing dental laboratories within a practice setting is preferred.
  • Experience teaching Dental Assisting courses is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional organizational and management skills.
  • Proficiency in working with clinical simulation and technology.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and patient care supplies and equipment.
  • Familiarity with the Internet, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with staff, students, and the wider community.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks, make independent decisions, and pay attention to detail.
