Job Summary

The Supply Chain Technician is a vital member of the Mercyhealth team, responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing and delivery of supplies within the facility. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick orders for departments requesting supplies, utilizing a thorough understanding of inventory management principles.
  • Package and deliver supplies to requesting departments, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Restock shelves, trays, carts, and other storage areas with incoming supplies, adhering to established protocols.
  • Unload stock daily from the dock, verifying accuracy with delivery documents and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Unpack stock and place it on shelves in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Safely operate floor jacks (manual and battery) and forklifts where appropriate, adhering to safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Regularly check supply par levels, outdates, and overstock, adjusting stock as needed to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Assist in determining appropriate floor unit PAR levels, collaborating with colleagues to ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Participate in annual inventory counts, contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of the process.
  • Collect and clean dirty equipment from floor units where appropriate, ensuring its readiness for use.
  • Deliver and set up equipment for patient care areas where necessary, adhering to established protocols.
  • Return equipment to its designated location, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Track the location of rental equipment and monitor its return to the vendor, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Transport equipment to Biomed when required, adhering to established procedures.
  • Enter patient charges for supplies and equipment where applicable, maintaining accurate records.
  • Verify the accuracy of all supply transactions within the MMIS system, ensuring data integrity.
  • Assist with the delivery of linen where necessary, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, free from hazards and obstacles.
  • Consistently practice good customer service skills, responding promptly to requests and providing excellent support.
  • Answer telephones and intercoms promptly and properly, maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Provide patient and material transport, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Perform daily receiving, delivery, and returns as directed, maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent; Associate degree (or pursuit thereof) preferred.

Certification/License

If driving a Mercy vehicle is required, applicant must have a driving record that is insurable under Mercyhealth's insurance coverage guidelines. Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercy's HR-01 Fleet Safety Policy. Position is subject to annual driving record background checks per Mercy's HR-01 Fleet Safety Policy. The Technician must maintain a valid driver's license.

Driving a Mercy vehicle is specifically required in the following departments:

Janesville Distribution Center

Central Distribution at Javon Bea Hospital Rockton Avenue

Central Distribution at Javon Bea Hospital Riverside Avenue

Additional Requirements

Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

Other Skills and Abilities

Exceptional interpersonal/communication skills allowing the Lead to serve as the point-person in working with internal customers in assessing their needs and the most appropriate solution.

Ability to effectively use applicable MMIS system being a super-user of the applicable MMIS system and a high-level resource for both coworkers and internal customers for all aspects of inventory management, receiving, and supply-related questions.
