Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Tesla. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-pressure die casting tooling for our products.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-pressure die casting tooling for our products, including split lines, slides, ejection, vent, and cooling systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Design, Simulation, and Process Engineering teams to ensure tooling requirements are met.
  • Provide feedback to Product Design Engineers to achieve the right balance between product performance and manufacturability.
  • Incorporate input from Flow and Thermal Simulation Engineers into the die design.
  • Capture feedback from Casting Process Engineers into new and replacement dies.
  • Innovate new ideas to push the envelope of performance and minimize risk.
  • Provide technical oversight of tooling suppliers.
  • Assist in the development of tooling design and fabrication schedules.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Mechanical design experience, with a strong preference for experience with aluminum high vacuum high pressure thin wall structural die casting tool design.
  • Strong to expert-level 3D CAD skills, including advanced surfacing and large assemblies.
  • CATIA V5+ fluency is preferred, but the ability to learn and adapt quickly is essential.
Compensation and Benefits

As a full-time Tesla employee, you will be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, as well as 401(k) matching and employee stock purchase plans.

Expected compensation for this role is $80,000 - $204,000 per year, plus cash and stock awards, and benefits.
