Lead Cost Estimation Specialist

Your Role

We are on the lookout for a Lead Cost Estimation Specialist to join our vibrant team. In this pivotal position, you will be integral to our multidisciplinary municipal, industrial, and alternative project delivery design and construction management teams. If you possess a passion for numerical analysis, excel in accuracy, and aspire to contribute to significant projects, this role is tailored for you.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cost Estimation Mastery: You will oversee and coordinate the creation of precise, timely, and comprehensive cost estimates for major capital and construction initiatives, guiding project outcomes and ensuring exceptional client satisfaction.
  2. Analytical Expertise: You will meticulously prepare cost estimates by analyzing costs, materials, labor, bid documentation, and specifications for each project, ensuring reliability in your estimates.
  3. Database Development: You will design, implement, and maintain cost estimating databases utilizing various software applications to enhance our estimation processes.
  4. Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to review drawings and specifications, determining costs and contributing to value management, driving cost-effective solutions.
  5. Validation and Oversight: Assess third-party estimates and monitor market conditions to validate estimates, providing expert guidance for medium to large-scale projects, including those of significant complexity.
  6. Technical Proficiency: Conduct quantity take-offs for large concrete structures and assist in project sequencing and scheduling for intricate water projects.
  7. Documentation: Prepare concise Basis of Estimate and Basis of Schedule reports.
  8. Client Engagement: Participate in client cost estimate and schedule reviews, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  9. Risk Evaluation: Establish site-specific estimating criteria, including labor, equipment, and material supply, directing the preparation of cost and schedule risk assessments.
  10. Collaboration with Design Teams: Analyze critical path activities and resolve issues with the project design team, utilizing your problem-solving skills.
  11. Team Development: Assist management in cultivating a cohesive estimating and scheduling team, participating in the staffing and technical growth of resources.

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 15 years in cost estimation, construction management, or related fields, with a proven track record in developing construction cost estimates and schedules at various design stages.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost estimation software such as MCACES, MII, and @risk, along with familiarity with Autodesk products and Microsoft Office Suite.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated capability in addressing complex issues with professional judgment and creativity.
