Job Summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our ophthalmology practice, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our ophthalmologists and optometrists.

Responsibilities
  • Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists with clinical duties, including patient work-up, testing, and procedures.
  • Perform ophthalmic testing, including vision testing, refractometry, and intraocular pressure measurements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of patient charts and documentation.
  • Provide patient education and counseling on eye care and medication use.
  • Assist with in-office procedures and administer ocular medications as prescribed.
  • Perform telephone triage and scheduling duties to meet patient needs.
Requirements
  • 6 months of experience in an optometry or ophthalmology practice preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to obtain JCAHPO COA certification within 18 months of employment.
