The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality in laboratory specimens by identifying pre-analytical factors that may impact patient outcomes. This role involves operating various systems and methodologies to deliver precise and timely data for patient care, quality assurance, and proficiency assessments.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure quality assurance by reviewing technical activities in accordance with facility protocols.
- Assist in preparing the laboratory for inspections and audits.
- Adhere to site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and maintain knowledge of their contents.
- Conduct necessary Quality Control (QC) measures, including documentation and corrective actions for all procedures and equipment.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues and clients regarding technical inquiries, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of both technical and administrative functions.
- Deliver accurate results while minimizing the occurrence of corrected reports.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field from an accredited institution, preferably in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
- Experience: Completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program or equivalent within the last five years may substitute for one year of full-time clinical experience.
- Certification: ASCP or AMT Board certification relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
