Position Details
The Internal Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP), encompassing roles such as Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), is vital in delivering comprehensive healthcare services under the guidance of a licensed physician.

The responsibilities of an Internal Medicine APP typically include:

  • Conducting detailed medical histories and physical assessments of patients.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, including blood work and imaging studies.
  • Formulating accurate diagnoses and collaborating with supervising physicians to create treatment plans.
  • Prescribing medications and adjusting treatment regimens as necessary.
  • Providing preventive care and educating patients on health promotion and disease management.
  • Monitoring chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Consulting with supervising physicians on complex medical cases.
  • Effectively communicating with patients and their families regarding diagnoses and treatment options.
  • Maintaining precise electronic medical records of patient interactions and treatment plans.
  • Staying informed on the latest medical research and guidelines relevant to internal medicine.
  • Participating in professional development through conferences and workshops.
  • Engaging in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care.
  • Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
  • Advocating for patients' rights and access to necessary resources.
  • Responding to medical emergencies and providing initial care until a physician is available.
  • Demonstrating cultural competence in delivering care to diverse populations.

Qualifications:
For PA candidates: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
For NP candidates: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, current RN license, and AANP or ANCC certification.
New graduates are encouraged to apply. Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC) is required.
BLS/ACLS/AED training is mandatory, accepted only from specified organizations.
