Job Description

AbbVie is a leading pharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering and delivering innovative medicines and solutions that address serious health issues. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Genomics Research Intern to join our team in North Chicago, IL.

The Genomics Research Center (GRC) at AbbVie is a multidisciplinary center of excellence with expertise in genomic technologies and their application. The Functional Genomics group within the GRC plays a key role in technology development to support the identification and validation of novel drug targets across all disease indications.

As a Genomics Research Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a project to establish a new CRISPR screen technology to support target identification in all therapeutic areas. You will be responsible for performing wet-lab experimentation, reading and understanding assigned primary literature, creating new experimental cell lines, and communicating data in a group setting.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master's or PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments, providing suggestions for additional experiments.
  • Experience with molecular biological techniques and mammalian tissue culture.
  • Experience with antibody-based protein detection.
