Role Summary:

The Student Achievement Coach plays a pivotal role in delivering extensive academic assistance and mentorship to learners, aiming to enrich their educational journey, foster academic excellence, and support their personal and scholarly development. This position involves collaborating with students, educators, guardians, and other key stakeholders to formulate strategies and execute interventions tailored to individual student requirements, thereby nurturing a constructive and inclusive educational atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the principles outlined on the CEC website.
  • Offer personalized coaching and academic assistance to students to improve their learning, study habits, and overall academic success.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to identify student strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth.
  • Work in partnership with students, parents, and educators to create customized academic success plans and strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and necessary interventions.
  • Assist students in establishing goals, formulating action plans, and mapping out their academic pathways.
  • Deliver guidance on effective study methods, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive educational environment that enhances student engagement and motivation.
  • Teach various academic subjects, including test-taking strategies, note-taking, and exam preparation, with teaching responsibilities comprising at least 50% of the role.
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure academic support services align with classroom instruction and curriculum goals.
  • Maintain precise records of student interactions, progress, and support provided in the relevant systems.
  • Grade assignments and offer constructive feedback promptly.
  • Develop curriculum and prepare lesson plans.
  • Stay informed about best practices in academic coaching and student support through ongoing professional development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Preferred experience in teaching or tutoring.
  • Prior experience in an academic support or coaching role is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of educational principles, learning styles, and developmental theories.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with students, parents, and educators.
  • Adept at assessing student needs, recognizing barriers to academic success, and crafting suitable interventions.
  • Proficient in using technology and software relevant to academic support and coaching.
  • Strong organizational abilities and effective task prioritization skills.
  • Awareness of relevant laws, policies, and ethical standards regarding student privacy and confidentiality.
